While the museum building of the 1950s will be renovated, the project also includes a new wing that will be erected on the site of a house located at 136, rue de l’Alzette. This new building will have an expressive facade, consisting of superimposed concrete elements, organized around a vertical crack. The architecture symbolizes the multiple conflicts and fractures of the Second World War. The facade is in contrast with its environment in order to warn the present and future generations facing new divisions that threaten our society.
Architectural firm Jim Clemes et associés is currently drawing the future museum.
